Acoustic Shock Elimination (ASE) is a very efficient algorithm that even runs on a low-cost Microcontroller (e.g. Texas Instruments MSP430).
ASE protects a headset user against acoustic shocks, i.e. sudden loud signals that are extremely annoying and even may damage the users ear.
ASE is a useful supplement of Noise Suppression, but then a DSP instead of a microcontroller is required.
Please listen to audible examples of Acoustic Shock Elimination.
